Beyond homo sapien sapiens, have humans really evolved at all?

In all that we call progress, I see destruction of our habitat. Did evolution stop?

Evolution is random and adapts a species to the enviorment. It doesn't march towards the goals of being nice, being green etc.

The human race, because of out large population is evolving more then ever.

While it's PC to "see destruction of our habitat." The alternative would be a massive die off of humans. Stop expansion (roads, tree cutting, housing, crops) would help the enviorment, but drastic birth control would be required.That's one of the policies that China is being accused of human rights violations.

Well we are communicating from thousands of mile away (presumably) on a glowing screen.And evolving doesn't mean we've gotten any wiser.Wisdom is what it takes to realise our follies.

Evolution has slowed a great deal due to mans reliance on technology. But it hasn't stopped completely. Our capacity for knowledge is several times more than it once was. Just look at kids these days. they pick up new technologies much more quickly and have a more sound understanding of it than kids in the past had with the technologies present then. while we don't have wings or 6 limbs our evolution is anything but stopped.

In all that is going on in the world with hate, murder, wars, etc. We have not progressed at all. It looks like Humanity is devolving.

Follow-up to someone who does not think we have an "idea" about evolution.

Quote "Evolution has no goal, but there are directional trends of a lesser kind. Teleological explanations are more complex than one might think." That is the Scientific view. The "Mystical" view is that evolution is progressive.  So evolution is still in debate right now (what's new), but leaning toward the scientific viewpoint.

Evolution is the change in allele frequency over time in a population of organisms.

It is not progressive, directional and does not have goals.

Evolution does not stop.

When will you people get a " ghost " of an idea of what evolution is!
