Ok i`m from u.k but my brazilian boyfriend will move to U.S next month cos he wants to become a s.w.a.t sniper and he is very athletic. But he also says he will do military training first.

apologies for my ignorance, but what do s.w.a.t police really do(a part from movies I don`t know much)?i know it`s dangerous but they do be well protected right? How much pay per year?

and how long does he have to be with the military for? and will he have enough time to come and see me?and how many times a week can we talk on the phone while he is with the milatry?Sorry but i don`t know much about these things

  1. Swat is paid as much as normal officers with a little more not much...

Swat and military are not the same

Swat is a team IF that police department has it...

He will not to be a Local Police Officer when he is NOT a US citizen.....

he could join the military but it will be a loooonnnnggg time before he becomes a citizen..

  2. Okay, here it is.  SWAT stands for specialized weapons and tactics.  This is a team of police officers that train on a weekly basis in high risk situations.  They utilize the best weapons the department can buy, and do the riskiest jobs on the force.  Jobs such as hostage rescue, barricaded persons, entry for search warrants, body guard for high profile visitors, etc.

Requirements for SWAT are simple.  You do not need to be ex-military, but military training helps.  You need to be in top physical shape.  You need to be an expert marksman with multiple firearms.  You need to be a police officer that is off probation and has proven themself in the field.

Oh, by the way, in order to be a police officer you have to be a citizen and attend a police academy.

  3. hes gotta be a u.s citizen first and become a officer then apply to swat....they serve high risk warrants and thing of those nature...

  4. SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics) specialize in situations where police just don't do it. For example, a bank robbery, or a hostage situation, that is when SWAT is summoned. Training for rookie SWAT officers are usually about a year to a year and a half.

  5. Just break up now.  U.S. military get 30 days per year leave, and I doubt he's going to be able to afford to run and spend it with you.

  6. He gets paid 100-150K a year. He has to be in the miltary for 3 years. You can talk exactly two times a week, each call should not last more than 47 minutes and you'll have to call as he cant make outgoing calls.

  7. Swat members are pretty high in law enforment. They ussually do hostage rescue or detaining a possiable armed suspect. As for protection there very well protected and there not ussually in danger. Now for the pay, well it varies ALOT it matter what police department he works for i would say maybe 45,000 50,000 and maybe go up to 80,000 but it total varies. idk really bout the army training duration maybe 2 months 1 month nothin more then a couple months and im sure ull see him alot. good luck hope i helped

  8. Look at this

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SWAT

  9. if he joins the military he will be in for a minimum of 2 years if it is any branch besides the marine corp.  if he joins the marine corp he will be in it for a minimum of 4 years.  unless you are married to him and go live with him on base you will rarely see him.  only on time off when he comes home.  swat team is dangerous they raid peoples houses and shoot them for having drugs.  other people will shoot back. they also stop crazy people with big guns.
