Bhakti favourite for the National Hunt Flat Race at Catterick
Mark Rimell’s trained gelding, Bhakti, is rated favourite for the National Hunt Flat Race (Conditional Jockey’s and Amateur Riders) at Catterick in England on Tuesday, February 28, 2012. The cash prize for the winning horse is £1,437.
A total of 15 runners will enter the 2 miles race and their names are: Spring Lane, Bhakti, Fame Again, I´m A Gangster, Gonow, The Mongolian, Backstage Lady, Bach Peddling, Teals Token, My Little Fellow, Berwaaz, Grimwith, Icing Sugar, Lady Oglier and Snow
Alert.
Although most of these runners do not have much experience, they are still quite capable of providing some quality entertainment to the spectators at Catterick.
Out of all the participants, the best chances of winning are with Bhakti, as he has been quite impressive in his only two NHF outings. Although he was unable to win any of them, he finished runner up on both occasions.
This will encourage the punters to put their money on the five-year-old gelding, who has a golden opportunity to bring up his maiden victory today.
Bhakti will be ridden by Brendan Powell, who has a solid chance of making an impression at Catterick today.
Spring Lane, trained by Gordon Elliott, will also be chasing his maiden NHF victory. He has taken part in a couple of such events, but was unable to win. However, he did manage to finish third once, which will encourage the punters to try their luck on him.
The six-year-old gelding will be partnered by C O'Farrell for today’s race. The young jockey has earned three NHF victories until now and will be looking to bag another one, as he has a decent chance.
Although this race appears to be a two way battle, there might be a surprise from Fame Again, who has taken part in one NHF event. He finished fourth that time around, which indicates that he has a solid chance of making it to the top three at Catterick.
The four-year-old gelding will be ridden by Jake Greenall, who has earned four NHF victories in his career so far. However, the young jockey needs to improve his strike rate in order to impress one and all.
There are some horses, who will be running for the first time today, so anything can be expected from them. However, the odds appear to be in favour of Bhakti, who has done well at this level.
