Bhupathi and Bopanna team up for Olympics
Mahesh Bhupathi and Rohan Bopanna have recently joined together as a team in order to qualify for the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Bopanna had a successful partnership going with his Pakistani counterpart, Aisam-ul-Haq, but the duo had to break it off so that Bopanna could partner in the doubles with his Indian colleague.
The partnership between the two Indian tennis players was formed again after the Davis Cup. The two tennis players have not yet played a match together yet but they have started to practice to get in tune with each other. Both Bopanna as well as Bhupathi
have been making use of the Bombay Gymkhana in order to scrap away the rust and upgrade their performance.
The first time that the duo would be making a display of their skills will be at the Chennai Open which is scheduled to start from the January 2nd of next year.
Bhupathi expressed himself in the following words regarding the partnership, “Rohan and I are playing together with the sole aim of representing India at the Olympics, but that's still a long way away, we have to win a lot of matches, work together as a
team and build a great partnership and if we do that hopefully we'll be in London and do well there too. We have had some very good results in the Davis Cup, we know how to play the game, use each other's strengths, polish off the weaknesses and adapt to situations.
Hopefully we will pull it off well.”
There are a total of 216 days left before the Olympic Games next year and that is the time remaining for the two individuals to make themselves a force to reckon with. The Olympic Games will be taking place in London for the third time in the city’s history.
The first time that the Games were played was in the year 1908 while the second time that Olympic Games came to the capital of England in 1948. Now more than half a century later, the Olympic Games will make London the first city in the world to have hosted
the event three times.
