Question:

Bi-polar or concern?

My boyfriend recently threw me into a wall by pushing the recliner so hard it threw me and it into a wall. He's bi-polar and was mad at the fact that I hadn't come home immediately when he was depressed.

Should I be concerned by this behavior or simply brush it off as bi-polarness?

  1. Of COURSE you should be concerned!! You can't possibly be considering EXCUSING his bad behavior because he's bi-polar! If he's violent during his depressed phases, he's got more than just bi-polar disorder going on...and you'd better be aware that it might get worse. Talk to a professional about this disorder so you'll know what IS and ISN'T Bi-polar. Don't brush off ANY violence, no matter what it's origin.

  2. Of course you should be concerned. Whether it was bi-polar or not, it still means he was violent towards you, and even if it WAS 'just' his bipolar, there is even more cause for concern, since that means he will probably be violent again due to his bipolar. Are you okay with that?

Bipolar can be very serious, he needs to be on medication and take it.

Don't let anyone push you around (excuse the pun)

  3. That's not entirely the bipolar. I'd be concerned... he prolly didn't mean to hurt you but it's dangerous behavior.

  4. Being bipolar is no excuse for abuse or rudeness.
