My daughter is turning 7 and originally she wanted to have a sleepover. I am thinking parents wont agree with that because the children may be so young. So I got a suggestion to do a BIG GIRL SLUMBER PARTY, in which the children dont stay over night but they come around 5pm and leave at 9pm. Is this a good idea?

  1. I would call on  parents of the girls you want to invite,  to see what they think.

My kids were both having slumber parties at 7,  I think my daughter went to her first when she was 5 at the neighbors house.

Now, I have seen slumber parties where every girl in the class is invited and you have 18 little girls running around all night.... heaven help the parents that opt for that.

Instead you may want to opt for the closest friends.  Have a party, and then 2-3 stay the night.  We did that a lot and it was almost no trouble.

  2. I agree with your idea.  I think 1st grade is a bit too young for sleepovers and you'll probably end up calling parents at night to come pick up their kids!  Have everyone come in pajamas so it adds to the effect as well.  I'd even push it to around 9:30.  Have some fun games planned and good food and you're good to go! have fun!

  3. Yes! We called them

    1. mock sleepovers

    2. half sleepovers

    3. almost sleepovers

    Love it!

  4. I think that would be a sweet bday as long as no ones feelings get hurt after the party at school.

  5. Oh I love that idea!!

    Its very cute and original!

    You should definitely do that.

They can wear pajamas and do all that fun stuff.

    7 is a little young.

Some 7 year olds might not want to sleep over at that age!

  6. i think you should have a sleep over, i used to when i was little like 5 6 years old with my old best friend and it was fun, but just watch them ofcourse

  7. that sounds like a great idea.  also, not just the parents, but the kids most likely will feel uncomfortable sleeping over somewhere and they won't want to come to the party.  If you turn it into an evening party where they can go home before bed, then they'll feel most comfortable.

  8. stay till 1am and get paintball guns and have fun

  9. I think it's a great idea.  7 is young.  Some parents might agree.  I wouldn't have unless I knew the parents really well. My daughter had a few sleepovers at that age, but mainly with her cousin.

  10. I think it would be a good compromise. I agree with you, many children/parents are not ready at 7years old. I would want to know the family pretty well before I let my child stay the night. If she has one or two good friends who's parents would allow it, maybe just have those 2 stay over after the others go home.

  11. that is a great idea. 7 is a little young for a real sleepover so i think that sounds like fun for her.

  12. tumor

  13. each parent is different. I have 4 kids and my oldest started having sleep overs when she was 6.    On average now I end up with 6 to 8 extra children at a sleep over.  Best thing to do....go with what YOU are comfortable with.
