Bialetti Stove top expresso maker intermittent...

My Expresso maker seems to have an intermittent fault. I have cleaned it thoroughly - took it all apart - but it now will only 'perk' properly sometimes. Other times it comes through very slowly. I do clean the coffee holder with a brush each time it is used so that should be clean and clear. Any ideas what I can do?
