Bialetti sputtering after gasket replaced

Question

We recently replaced the gasket and since then the pot starts sputtering as soon as it starts to boil and steam comes out the spout.  It makes the finishing noises as soon as it starts to boil.  Eventually it makes a full pot of espresso, but by the time it is done the espresso is boiling in the top chamber.  Help!
