Biblical Greek?

I am interested in learning Classical Greek. I would like to be able to read authors such as Plato in the original language. If I took a year of Biblical Greek at a theological seminary, would I be prepared? Would there be any drawbacks to learning Greek this way? Help is greatly appreciated!

All I can give you are some words of encouragement: My old teacher at University years ago always told us that it was worth all the hardships of learning Classical Greek just to be able to read Plato in his own language.
