I'm looking at getting a bib to prevent rub marks on shoulders. I was wondering which ones are better,

Cotton quilted like this,

Or satin like this,

Thanks!

  1. Well.... in my opinion the cotton is alot better then satin.

Cotton: breaths and doesnt get staticy. if ur horse sweats it doesnt stick to him and in winter is alot warmer. but does get hot in summer.

but dont get sticky and hot. And can get pretty expensive.

Satin: Cool in summer and are alot cheaper. for horses with naturally short silky coats is very good for then but not for horses with long thick coats it gets sticky and uncomfortable. they are good for people on a budget.

That my opinion from past experiences but both work fine. hope i have helped atleast a little cya.

  2. The cotton looks better, but the satin would be easier to clean. See how warn they keep your horse warn and get one to fit your climate.  Also, you can get a mane tamer, they not only do the same as the bibs, but it keeps the mane in line and their neck and face clean.

  3. I have tried both types of bib.  The satin is definately better.  It's comfier for the horse too.  My horse had the quilted and tried to rub it off, when i changed it to satin he settled.

  4. I would suggest cotton, as it is a natural fiber, and would hold up better.  As satin wears, it can pill and fray faster.

  5. we use spandex  -  http://www.acetack.com/shoulderguard.htm... -  our old arab used to lose all the hair around his shoulders and neck line because of the blanket.  The solution was spandex and a blanket with front gussets.  The spandex washed and held up better, didnt slip around and allowed the blanket to slide over it
