  1. Just a thought - helmet straps are notorious for retaining salts that your body excretes when you perspire.  I too would recommend a regular, thorough  washing of the straps.  HTH


  2. I guess the first question is: does the irritation seemed to be caused by rubbing/chaffing or is is caused by some compound within the straps?

    Keeping your skin moisturized will help prevent irritation caused by rubbing/chaffing.   Make sure you don't have your straps too tight.  The helmet needs to stay in place, but it will stay in place without being cinched tightly under your chin.  Also, my straps get really stiff and rough with salt on really hot days.  Rinse them out to keep them soft and pliable.

    If the irritation is caused by some chemical within the straps, I'd try washing them with soap and water.  Then rinse super well, hopefully you can remove whatever is bothering you.

  3. I don't wear a helmet......

    how about you sew something soft onto them so when they touch you it's not irritating
