i bike to school alot, it's a long ride and i always get this problem of sweaty butt,it's weird though 'cause i don't get that problem when i play b-ball but only on long bike rides......anyway, i've read on some site that bicycle shorts/pants "wisk" away moisture and sweat....does that mean it absorbs and prevents the sweat from becoming visible?

  1. Bicycle shorts are designed to be worn without underwear.  They are made with antimicrobial materials that prevent infections.  These shorts are paded and help keep you comfy and proper blood flow during those long rides.  Whats wicks away moisture means is that the material absorbs it, then brings it to the outiside of the short and drys very rapidly making seems as though you arent sweating.  Alot of fitness clothing is made of the same type of materials.  After wearing your shorts on a ride it is recomended that you wash your shorts after every ride to prevent bacteria growth.  Not sure if it answers your question but it might inform you some

  2. I bike to work sometimes. Your butt can't sweat sitting on a vinyl bike seat. There are probably sweat pants for bicycyles that wick away the sweat better than blue jeans, but you still be sweaty. Carry dry underwear if it's a social problem.

  3. I commute to work by bike and the advice I was given (and I totally live by it) is, unless the distance is quite short, do NOT bike in the clothes you want to wear all day.  Buy a pair of bike shorts to ride in (the synthetic wicking fibers will move the sweat away from your body) and take them off at your destination and switch to your regular clothes.  My routine

    1- shower

    2- ride to work

3- go to bathroom with my backpack.

4- wet down washcloth with warm water.

    5- strip down

6- scrub the sweat zones starting from most clean to least clean (face/head, shoulders, armpits, crotch)

    7- apply deodorant

    8- put on fresh clothes

9- put bike clothes in bag

10- put washcloth in large ziplock bag

  4. I wear black bike shorts that were relatively inexpensive at d**k's Sporting Goods.  They absorb the sweat and do not show on the outside.  The shorts are used primarily  for comfort

They also help against infections that are common with bike riders so, it is important to keep them cleaned.

  5. The 'butt sweat' is actually all the sweat from the back of your head, neck, shoulders and back seeping down your butt.

Wearing multiple cotton shirts can absorb this sweat so you can then remove the shirts and put on a fresh one.

No fancy pair of shorts or shirt is going to remedy this problem as they may 'claim'.

    Just one sweaty mans opinion.
