Athletic Bilbao boss, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marcelo-c23554 Bielsa, has admitted that his side were totally dominated and overrun by Barcelona at the Camp Nou on Saturday night.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 were in full force as they swept over La Liga strugglers, Bilbao, and they trashed them by 5-1.
The victory on Camp Nou means the Catalans were able to break Real Madrid’s record of best start to a season in the Primera Division.
Reflecting back on their heavy defeat at the hands of the current league leaders, Bielsa admitted that his men were in no match to the strength of Tito Vilanova’s team.
In a subdued form, the Bilbao boss said that his team tried to play their game. However, he believes they lost the game because they could not penetrate the defences of their opponents.
“We tried to play football and build quick attacks without losing possession,” he told reporters.
Bielsa feels his team was not able to create clear-cut chances and as a result of that they never thrived in front of the box.
“But the big difference between us and them is that our attacks never thrived.”
The Argentine tactician also admitted to the fact that they simply could not get control of the game. He explained how they found it almost next to impossible to get the ball back whenever they lost it to the Blaugrana.
“Every time we lost the ball, we felt dizzy trying to dispossess them.”
The 57-year-old remarked on the similarities between the Barca of today and when they were under the former coach, Pep Guardiola.
The under fire boss is of the opinion that nothing has changed under Tito. He believes the Catalans are still as lethal as they were before.
“They are the same. The same power, same style, and the same sense of constant unpredictability.”
Athletic Bilbao’s dismal season in the Primera Division seems to never stop. Saturday night’s defeat is their 7th of the season.
The Basque-based club has now slipped further to the bottom-half of the Primera Division table with just 15 points. Only a mere three points separates them from the relegation zone.
