Athletic Bilbao boss, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marcelo-c23554 Bielsa, has lamented the fact that his team never seemed like a side that could salvage something from last night’s 5-1 defeat to Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Bilbao could not just resist the firepower of Real as their defence was dismantled by the constant threat posed by the host’s strike force.
The Basque-based club did get some chances in the game and were able to score once, but on the grand scheme of things, it was a night to forget about for them and their boss concedes that fact.
Bielsa admitted that Real made life difficult for them and bemoaned the fact that they had to pay for every mistake his side made during the match.
“We are experiencing difficulties. We offered effort and a certain amount of order, but every ball that we lost was in an area where it proved in consequence to be a danger to our goal.”
The Argentine continued and said that although his players tried to play and get something from the game, but it was just not their night.
“We tried to play but that is the game’s summary. Each loss caused dangerous situations in front of our goal.”
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabio-c13152 Coentrao, committed a foul inside the 18-yard box. He believes Madrid were just too strong for them on the night and that incident could not have had
any effect on the outcome of the match.
“The game’s situation was not dependent on one play. After the first goal there was no way we would draw level in the match.”
Bielsa concluded his comments on the admission that his side kept playing the game and showed sportsmanship in the face of great adversity.
“We provided effort and sportsmanship. We ran and respected the positional order, but could not counter what they were doing.”
Bilbao's struggles and dismal start in this campaign continues while Real Madrid are still trying to keep winning in order to bridge the eight-point gap between them and their bitter rivals, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604.
