Celta de Vigo midfielder, Enrique de Lucas Martínez, had words of praise for Athletic Bilbao boss, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marcelo-c23554 Bielsa, and described him as a ‘football junkie’.
Ahead of Celta Vigo’s trip to the San Mames stadium on this Sunday, De http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lucas-c22528 praised Bielsa in quite a different way.
The midfielder described the Argentine coach as someone who always draws criticism from all circles and likened him to the likes of scholars who always make you think.
“He’s a football junkie. He’s a scholar who draws much criticism, much opinion, and he always makes you think.”
The former Espanyol man also remarked on the style of play the Bilbao boss adopts and instills in his players.
He said that Bielsa is addicted to football and also conceded that he instills a degree of intensity that is hard to follow.
“Football is his methadone. The degree of intensity that his team plays with is hard to follow, so we must be prepared for that.”
The 34-year-old was in the youth system at the Catalan-based side, Espanyol, when the tactician was there as a coach in 1998.
The Spaniard has revealed that he still remembers his former coach and that his side will be ready for the encounter.
“I have good memories of him. I am very motivated for the game at San Mames; to face him will be a challenge.”
Moreover, the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 player also had words of praise for Athletic and said they are always a difficult team to play against.
“Athletic are a tough opponent because they do not allow you to breathe, it is always a physically tough duel. One of their weapons is Bielsa.”
Finally, the midfielder concluded his remarks on the progress his side has made so far into the season.
Although they have been inconsistent since the start of this campaign, De Lucas believes his side has finally matured. He hopes Celta Vigo continue improving as the season goes on.
“We have matured on that and we must continue polishing this diamond.”
In the Primera Division, Celta Vigo are currently on the bottom-half of the table with just 15 points.
