Under-fire Athletic Bilbao coach, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marcelo-c23554 Bielsa, is hoping last night’s valuable victory over Granada will be the catalyst that leads to something greater for his struggling team
Bilbao have not had an impressive start to the season. In fact they managed to win only two games in the Primera Division before their encounter with Granada.
However, on Sunday night, they got three precious points in their away encounter with fellow strugglers, Granada.
It was an intense match for Bilbao as the hosts started the game in an aggressive way. They dominated possession of the match and created much of the chances in the first half.
But the visitors got their break through when http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Aritz-Aduriz-c6516 converted a penalty on the 13th minute. The 31-year-old got his second goal of the night and increased the Basque club’s lead to 2-0 before the interval. Granada
could only manage to pull one back as the match ended 2-1.
Bielsa wants his side’s win against Granada to be what kick starts the season for them.
He mentioned that his team needs to play in a constant manner regardless of who their opponents are. He also said he wants his team to be more balanced and play with a free-flowing style.
“We need to play the same way, regardless of the opponent, at home or away. Hopefully this win can start that. I want us to be a more balanced side, more free-flowing.”
The Argentine boss also gave his verdict of the match and was not impressed with how his team played. He also admitted that he wouldn’t have been surprised if his team would have drawn the match.
“I thought we were poor in the second half today – a very different side from what I wanted. If we'd have drawn the match, I don't think that would have been strange.”
Moreover, Granada boss, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Juan-Antonio-c19650 Anquela had words of praise for his players. He is proud of his players and believes his team’s performance in the second half was their best since the start of the season.
“The second half was our best period of the season so far. I am very proud of my players for how they worked and fought until the last seconds," he concluded.
Athletic Bilbao will next host Sevilla in the league on Sunday, November 11.
