Big 12 week five: Preview
Week five will feature some exciting match-ups as several Big 12 teams attempt to get back on track after the conference got out to a slow start. The most exciting game of the week will be the Red River Rivalry game between Texas and Oklahoma.
Kansas vs. Baylor
Kansas will be on the road to Baylor in their week-five conference game.
Kansas has suffered losses in weeks one and three to team they should have beaten, in North Dakota State and Southern Mississippi. The Jayhawks are coming off a win over New Mexico State and will hope to stay on track against an underdog Baylor side.
Baylor has worked their way to a 3-1 record with their only loss coming against #4 TCU. The club now has an opportunity to prove themselves against a more difficult Kansas side.
#21 Texas vs. #8 Oklahoma
In one of the most anticipated games of the year Texas will face Oklahoma.
Texas is coming off a crushing loss to UCLA and will be keen on getting back in the win column in week five. If the Longhorns are able to defeat Oklahoma it could put them back into the top 15 and in a great position before their game against #6 Nebraska
in week six.
Oklahoma is undefeated in four meetings this year, but has yet to face a difficult opponent. The Sooners will have their hands full in the rivalry game. However, if they are able to come away with a win they have a great chance of moving up from the number
eight spot.
Georgia vs. Colorado
Georgia will visit Colorado in week-five action.
The Bulldogs have lost three games in a row and will be interested in getting back into the win column for the first time since week one. The club will be helped by the return of star wide receiver AJ Green. The youngster is returning from a four-game suspension
and should bring another dimension to the Bulldogs offence.
Colorado is coming off an upset over Hawaii on the weekend and will hope to maintain their winning ways against a struggling Georgia side.
Texas Tech vs. Iowa State
Texas Tech will travel to Iowa State for their week five match-up.
Texas Tech suffered their first and only loss of the season to #6 Texas in week three. Sitting at 2-1 the Red Raiders will be well rested for their week-five engagement and will be hoping for a good result in an important conference game.
Meanwhile, Iowa State will be in search of their first conference win. The Cyclones are sitting at 2-2 and are second in the Big 12 North. However, they have not been able to compete against more difficult opponents and are likely to have trouble with a
more skilled Texas Tech side.
With Missouri and Nebraska sitting out this week it is a great opportunity for the unranked teams in the Big 12 to take advantage and push up the standings with conference wins.
