Big 12 week four: Preview

Week four presents Big 12 fans with plenty of inter-conference play, with several match-ups that should favour Big 12 members.

Preview

UCF vs. Kansas State

Kansas State will host UCF at Bill Snyder Stadium on Saturday.

Kansas State has had a terrific start to the season having gone 3-0. The Wildcats were able to put up big numbers against UCLA and Missouri State and will be hoping to build on their success against UCF before
they play mumber six Nebraska in week five.

UCF sits at 2-1 and second in C-USA East. The Knights will have their hands full with the Wildcats on Saturday, but will hope to build on last week’s win over Buffalo.

Miami (OH) vs. Missouri

Miami travels to Faurot Field to face Missouri on Saturday.

Miami (OH) has had two strong weeks after suffering a week one loss to Florida. However, the Red Hawks will have a tough time besting a strong Missouri side.

Missouri has been impressive to start the season at 3-0 and will certainly be eyeing a BCS ranking if their play continues. Look for the Tigers to use an effective passing game, currently ranked 16th in the
nation.

UCLA vs. #7 Texas

UCLA will travel to Austin to take on Texas in week four.

UCLA shocked Houston last week with a big win at home. Nevertheless, the Bruins difficult schedule does not get any easier when they visit the Longhorns this week.

Texas should not struggle against a less talented Bruins side on Saturday. Instead expect the Longhorns to treat the match as a warm up for their next two games against #8 Oklahoma and #6 Nebraska.

#8 Oklahoma vs. Cincinnati

Oklahoma will visit Cincinnati in week four action.

Oklahoma has cruised through their season thus far, with wins over Florida State and Utah State. The Sooners should continue to roll against a frustrated Cincinnati side.

Cincinnati began, what many thought would be another successful season, at 1-2. Unfortunately, it does not look to be getting any better as the Bearcats are likely to go 1-3 this weekend against a strong
Oklahoma side.

Northern Iowa vs. Iowa State

Iowa State will host Northern Iowa this weekend.

Iowa State will want to make the most of what should be an easy match-up as they approach the heart of their schedule in October. The Cyclones go up against #13 Utah, #8 Oklahoma and #7 Texas all before Halloween.

Northern Iowa sits at 1-1 and will face a tough test against Iowa State this weekend. If the Panthers are able to force an upset they could be looking at a solid end of season record.

South Dakota State vs. #6 Nebraska

South Dakota State will face-off against Nebraska on Saturday.

South Dakota has yet to get a win this season and sits at 0-2 heading into their toughest match-up of the year.  The Jackrabbits will simply be looking to compete as they face-off against a much better team.

Nebraska’s game against South Dakota will mark the end of the easy part of their schedule. The Cornhuskers will focus on improving a ground game that is currently ranked fourth in the nation.

New Mexico State vs. Kansas

New Mexico will travel to Kansas in their week four match-up.

New Mexico sits at 0-3 after suffering losses to UTEP and San Diego State. Unfortunately for the Aggies, their schedule gets tough over the next two weeks as they take on Kansas and then #3 Boise State.

In week two Kansas had an impressive win over Georgia Tech only to follow it with a loss to Southern Mississippi. Although the Jayhakws have the talent to compete consistency remains an issue. They will hope
to clear it up when they take on the Aggies on the weekend.

Baylor vs. Rice

Baylor will take on Rice in their week four match-up.

Baylor is coming off a huge loss to #4 TCU and will be keen to get back on track against a much less skilled opponent this weekend.

Rice suffered a devastating loss at the hands of Northwestern last week and will look to get their game organized before they meet Houston in week five.
