Big 25th anniversary party and need to know how much beer we need?

how many cases of beer should we get if each case has 30 beers? the party is 4 hours long and some big drinkers. also how many gallons of rum and vodka for shots and mixed drinks should we get. 85 out of the 115 drink 15 are kids.

You can figure 1 drink per person for every 30 minutes. That's 2 drinks per hour times 4 hours X 85 people = 680 drinks. That's a lot of drinking!  Men will typically drink more beer than anything else. Determine how many men are in the party as overall they will consume more alcohol that most women. Figure out how many people actually drink shots too.....that's usually a smaller number too.

The big drinkers will offset the light drinkers....some people will not drink at all.

I would say plan that 45 people will drink 8 beers each - that's 12 cases of beer (30pks). A 1.75L of liquor will serve 50 (1oz.) drinks or  shots. If 50 people drink 4 drinks that's 4 1.75L of liquor. I would buy 2 1.75L of Rum and 2 1.75L of Vodka depending on what type of mixers you are serving as well.

I'm not your mother, but do consider the liability - you may want to make designated drivers available and definitely consider recommending that anybody that has had too much to drink should not drive and call a cab for them. 4 hours is a long time and 8 drinks can cause someone to breathe over the limit on a breathalizer.

ok, instead of cases go whole hog and get a keg or two. and then...oodles and oodles of bottles of hard liqour. oodles being crates

In planning open bar figure on 2.5 drinks per person for the first hour and then 1 to 1.5 per person thereafter. 1/2 kegs (the big ones) contain 126  16oz pints if you don't waste any. but you should figure closer to 110 or slightly less if the setup isn't perfect. liter liquor bottles contain 33 shots per bottle, however nobody at a party drinks a single shot drink figure on 15-20 per bottle to be safe. figure out your totals based on how many beer to mixed drink drinkers and add a case and bottle or two just to be safe, it won't go bad! hope this helps and have a great anniversary, be safe!
