  1. In a sense there is no contradiction.

Genesis 1:1  In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. - KABOOM!

As to all of the rest of it, science doesn't have good answers to where the stuff that went "bang" came from to begin with.

    Check it out.

Featuring an impressive cast of world-class scientists and scholars, Foolish Faith exposes the failure of mainstream science to answer the ever-present question of where we came from — unveiling a surprising store of controversial facts that support the existence of God, but are largely ignored by the media.

  2. The big bang is not accurate for sure , how can some one believe that this charming universe with all of the wondering things happened like that . i dont know how the christianity explain the begining but i'm sure that it will be more accurate than the big bang

  3. which big bang? you mean the one now that says it all began from a dot no bigger than the dot on this page. were did the matter come from that blew up? science answer is we don't know.or the big bang that blew up when?

    1. about the 1950's around 20 billion years ago.

    2. 70's about 15 billion yrs.

    3. 80's about 12 billion

    4. now it is some were around 8-10 billion.

    5. in either words they don't know. heck maybe in 100 yrs.the sciences will have it down to under a million.

  4. Big Bang, DUH! :)

  5. None of the above...

  6. False dichotomy. They are not opposed to one another. The Father of the Big Bang Theory was a Catholic priest, for crying out loud!

I don't see a contradiction between "the universe had a beginning" and "the universe had a beginning", which is what the Big Bang Theory and Christianity teach, respectively.

  7. the big bang theory was created by catholic priest so this question is flawed

  8. The Big Bang is supported by all available evidence.  If you think it contradicts your religion, then your religion is wrong.  Many don't see a problem.

  9. A Catholic priest proposed the Big Bang Theory dear.

    Google Georges Lemaître.

  10. Um...there is a lot of evidence against the big bang theory which I think is not true. Even though I'm not a christian anymore I still know and believe that it is not true!

  11. Big bang theory? it is in the bible!

  12. I am not a Christian, thank God.

I do believe that God was the big bang.

  13. Genesis is factually incorrect.

Big bang is, so far, the most plausible theory.

  14. Both have the same beginning: "And the universe sprung into existence".

The main evidence we have for this is redshift. The redshift shows how much the universe is expanding (i.e. galaxies move away from each other).

Redshift is taken as an axiom of Astrophysics, without being really tested for credibility. We merely sharpen our tools on its insistence.

Redshift is also observed on our sun. However our sun is not moving away from us. We've measured this many many times. An explanation for this is that the sun is surrounded by electron clouds that diffract the light and cause this observed redshift. For some reason, we have not applied this knowledge to distance stars and galaxies, where the electron clouds are more likely to be greater and more abundant (because our sun is smaller than the norm, and so burns slower).

So the observed redshift can simply be explained by light being diffracted, and not because the universe is expanding.

A more plausible theory would be to say that the universe has always existed, and always will. Steady State theory takes this model into consideration, and though it comes with it's own share of problems, it is still the most plausible theory surmounting at the moment.

So short answer: Neither, as they are both the same. I believe in the Steady State model.

  15. I think the Big Bang is more accurate, even though I have some doubts about it.

  16. Big Bang - we can observe the hubble constant even now

  17. Even though a Catholic priest spawned the theory, it doesn't mean Biblical creationism and scientific theory are compatible. You still have to choose, and seeing as how science seems to answer all the questions, I'm sticking with that.
