Question:

Big Brothers/Big Sister, can I do it?

I want to become a big sister, but honestly I'm a little afraid. I read on the site that these kids usually come from not-so-ideal backgrounds. I came from a good two parents home, supporting family, etc ... i'm very fortunate and I know that. I want to help mentor a little girl or boy but I'm really worried that I could s***w it up or that I won't know what I'm doing. Also, what if I move one day (which I plan on doing for grad school) ... what happens to my little? and I would rather have a little sister, but I know there are more little brothers in the program .... ANY advice? I would really appreciate the help... in my area alone there are 600+ boys who have been on the list for more then a year, so I urgently want to help.

Thanks for any help/advice

  1. Most of the time you just need to show the kids love and they will love you back about moving you just have to keep a realize that you will not be there in person for ever but you can always write and keep in contact with the person just as you do with your own family member.
