Big Brown Upset?

I am very surprised and upset by it. That is horseracing!!

Not really.  As soon as I saw him break from the gate I knew he was in trouble.  I don't care what anyone says, that crack was hurting him during his run.  Horses just don't throw their heads like that leaving the gate and even if he did, there is no way he could ever win the Preakness or Derby.  

Horses are conditioned to leave the gate "clean" and Big Brown did anything but that.  The commentators also said they thought he was nipping at another horse down the backstretch...hmmmmmmm.

Just not his day I guess.  Besides, what kind of race would you run if your owner and trainers told the world you were a guaranteed winner???  He's barely three for god sake!  Yeesh!

Before the race, I really thought he'd win. But when I saw his break from the gate, the way he was throwing his head and fighting Kent down the back stretch, I knew something was wrong. I'm not sure whether it was the hoof, but as he was walking from the stalls to the paddock, I noticed his right rear foot didn't seem right. After the race, the vets said nothing was wrong with his feet.

But after seeing the way he ran in his last three races before this one, I *know* something was wrong with him today. I do hope it's nothing serious.

I'm not surprise, I had a weird feeling since they took him off the steroids for this race he wasn't going to win. Plus, a few seconds in I could tell he wasn't going to have a very good race.

Not surprised at all. It's a very difficult task to accomplish. Two huge factors that made me doubt even more that he was not going to win was a week ago when the news about his cracked-hoof was released and that he was going to be steroid-free in his training for the Belmont.
