There was a horse recently in Tampa that was at 1-20 odds, and he finished dead last. I would always bet on horse that is at least 4-1 nothing 1-...

  1. I don't bet a horse with those odds, except maybe for a souvenir like Roadkill said.  I never bet odds-on favorites to win but I'll play them in exotics.

  2. Im not betting him win but im betting him in my tri and exacta.

  3. Because he will win.

  4. It is a bet that will get thousands upon thousands of people to hopefully have a souvenir of a Triple Crown winner. In these big races, one needs to look at wagering a little and smartly & hope for a big payout.

Having Big Brown in the exotics will yield little, also, so what I plan on is an exacta box with Behindattherbar and Kentucky Bear & hope for an upset.

  5. i once saw a horse win at 1/2....by 10 lenghts.....

and said to the guy next to me.."you can't make money

on a horse with odds like that"...he then pointed at the

turf-club and said" you would bet $4.00 to make $2.00

people in the turf-club will bet....$40,000 to make $20,000"

that bet is not for people like us.

  6. I am going to be betting on the tri and superfecta with Big Brown.  I need to see the picks from my favorite handicapping site since they rocked the Derby tri.

Check em' out at http://www.WinningPonies.com, pretty consistent with the solid picks and their data and site is second to none.

  7. So 1.5 times a win bet on Big Brown, a $3 payoff on a $2 win bet, is not a worthwhile payoff? Anything can happen in this race but I just don't see why 1-2 odds on Big Brown is not worth betting. I assure you I would sooner risk $1000 on Big Brown than on the stock market or the lottery. I'm ok with those odds. But regardless of what I decide to risk on Big Brown, I like the 8-1 odds on Gayego as well, an $18 payoff on a $2 win bet.

  8. Well I wouldn't bet him to win at those odds.

You can still key him in the TRI or SFC, though and get a decent payout on the rest of the race.

I almost always bet against the favorite - but I'll just give up 1st to Big Brown on this race.

A few of the Derby runners might regroup and give him a tougher race in the Belmont.

Those souvenier tickets are worthless unless you are at Pimlico. That's like saving a $1 winning pull tab as a souvenier.

  9. Your talking about War Pass in the Tampa Bay Derby 1-10 to win 1-20 to show.Big Brown will probably go off at less than 1-2.I will try to beat him.I don't believe in the bridge jumper bets.

  10. granted you dont make much money if your a small punter..... but im sure the big punters will spend up on big brown.......

    its like money for nothing!!!

  11. It's a sounvenir. You don't even cash it in just hang on to it & wait for the the Belmont / triple crown hype.
