I believe the rider did the right thing, Big Brown did not liked the physical contact of the other horses, the question to be answer will it happen again?  Hope not...

Of course, no one says they know at this point. I am relatively new to thoroughbred horse racing but I have never seen or heard of what we saw at the Belmont Stakes. Rick Dutrow has a history of using illegal drugs. Let us wait and see what develops.

I think he just was not into it that day.

Too bad, but I'm glad the rider pulled back rather than risk injury or worse.

There is a reason the triple crown is so hard to attain. It's a lot to ask.

i think Big Brown was uncomfortable.  did you see him kicking around in his stall a few hours before the race? Big Brown just had an off day.

He lost, but luckily the jockey was smart enough to pull back.  Good try Big Brown.

the track didnt suit his pattern of racing, also i dont think a jockey should purposly take his horse 3 wide for the entire trip, he covered more distance than any other horse in that race so there could have been an elemant of fatigue, if kent rode that way in australia (were im from) he would be on the first plane out of here, thats if he didnt get killed by a mob of angry punters first!

He lost a horse race.  Even the favorites, even the popular horses lose horse races all the time.  That's why they call them "races" instead of "hand them the trophy".
