Finally the day has come when two archrivals of the world of horseracing, Big Buck’s and Oscar Whisky, are geared up to compete for the ace title of the Ladbrokes World Hurdle in the midst of the pompous Cheltenham Festival.
On Day 3 (March 15)of the gala event, the high-voltage Grade 1 contest of 3m distance will start at 3:20 (GMT).
For the huge prize money of £148,070, 13 runners are going to show their guts. The entries include Big Buck’s Carlito Brigante, Cross Kennon, Dynaste, Five Dream, King Of The Night, Mikael D ‘Haguenet, Mourad, Oscar Whisky, Smad Place, So Young, Thousand
Stars and Voler La Vedette.
Big Buck’s looks to be in the most favourable position to carry the day. Since January 2009, the 35-race veteran runner has been winning continuously.
The champion trainer Paul Nicholls’ brilliant gelding has won 15 races in a row to date. This matchless and outstanding success streak depicts that the dashing horse will not let his winning record stop even now.
Perpetuating his sky-high form and capitalising on his classic capabilities, the legendary gelding is expected to show a big run at Cheltenham and notch up the title of the World Hurdle.
Considering the horse’s past record and confidence level, today’s race does not seem to be a big challenge for him despite the fact that he is set to compete against some of the world class runners.
Big Buck’s has as high as 98 percent chances to finish first in the mega marathon and add another glorious victory to his success-studded career.
However, his potential rival, Oscar Whisky, will try his utmost to deny triumph to the hot-favourite runner.
The legendary trainer Nicky Henderson’s bay gelding possesses marvellous track record. Out of his total 13 starts so far, he has won as much as 10.
From December 2011 to February 2012, the seven-year-old dashing horse won three races in a row. Making his debut in March 2009, he went on to finish first in the first four races of his career.
Oscar Whisky’s chances to thrive in today’s race are also more than 90 percent but he will have to apply utmost effort in order to make breakthrough.
Among the other runners, Mikael D ‘Haguenet, King Of The Night and Voler La Vedette are also likely to do well today.
Thus, the World Hurdle is going to be a rip-roaring and awe-inspiring competition. The race will be packed with twists and turns. Let us enjoy the heated action. Good luck to all the contestants.
