Big Button Remote Control

Question

I have a Pioneer DVD/VCR recorder (DVR-RT300) hooked up to my Panasonic flat panel TV. (The TV cable goes into the DVD/VCR.) I got my big button remote to turn the TV on and off. It can also turn ON the DVD/VCR, but It cannot turn OFF the DVD/VCR. What it DOES do -- it switches from DVD to VCR but it does not turn off the unit. When I push the (controller) off button again it simply switches the VCR light back to the DVD light. I have to bend down to manually turn off the DVD/VCR. (The controller has a VCR button and a DVD button but no button that says: DVD/VCR.) So, how can I program my remote control to turn off the DVD/VCR unit ??George
