Question:

Big Diaper Problem...?

My son Tyler is 14 months old and lately he's been taking his diapers off in the middle of the night and is going in his crib instead! My husband and I are baffled, we can't figure out how he is doing it! We check his diaper before we put him down and check him again before we go to bed, and he's clean and dry and his diaper is on him. But each morning when we've gone in to wake him up, he's taken his diaper off and urinated on the crib mattress! Thankfully we've put a cover over it so it won't get damaged, but it's getting really annoying cleaning it up every single morning because he's taken off his diaper in the night. What can we do to keep him in his diaper overnight? We've put the diapers on backwards, put him in footy pajamas so it's hard to get to it, put him in regular pajamas backwards, even put mittens on his hands to try to keep him from getting it off! But every night, without fail, he gets it off. WHAT CAN WE DO?

  1. put a onsie on him under the jammies

  2. You could tape it on each night with packaging tape or duct tape. Tight enough that he cannot scoot the diaper off his bum, but loose enough that he can't tell its anymore snug than a diaper alone.

  3. get up every night at midnight and take him to go potty. That worked with my son.

Or get up every night and changed his diaper. HE may not like the feel of an old diaper on him for all night  long.

This is gross but he also might like the warmth from his urine. eekkk. :)

  4. put pull ups on him.  He won't be able to get them off and they absorb like a diaper

  5. duct tape seriously works. My son did this for months and 3 nights of duct tape...now we are set. Kids are mischevious when they are bored and look for strange things to de in the middle of the night. Duct tape has saved my world!!

  6. Try the swimmy diapers for when they go to the pool.  They are pull ups as opposed to the regular kind with straps.

  7. Try duct tape, seriously.  I started to do this one time, but daughter quit taking hers off.

  8. face it, the kid is a future nudist

    or pornstar

you should be happy and praise him

give him whatever he wants whenever he wants

  9. um, my sugestion would be to put clothes on him with buttons so he cant get to his diapers, you could also try this-

when he takes his diaper off at night the next day he should have to stay naked and then when it's time to sleep put a pillow down and safety pin on a diaper. a 1 yr old shouldnt be able to get that of!

  10. try putting the diaper on backwards so that he can't reach the tabs to pull it off, and then put another diaper on top of that one. Then put on the onesie and pajamas. If none of that works, maybe try pull ups. He ight not be able to get those off, as he would have to pull them down to get them off.

  11. Tell him that it's wrong to do it and just bear with it. At that age children do take their diapers off. Maybe you should begin to introduce him to the potty  chair.

  12. Duct tape. 101 uses; and now, 102... Though I think Houdini can still find a way.

Seriously, a onesie and single piece PJ's with the zipper in the back.

Edit: Who... Houdini he really is, yes? What about mittons? The lightweight kind similar to those used for infants who scratch their face. They can be secured to the PJ's with velcro, perhaps.

How exactly does he get them off? Does he get all his clothes off, or just the diaper?

What about some sort of suspenders to clip onto the diaper? Just be careful it doesn't pose a choking risk... Is he getting too hot during the night and then just undressing to cool down?
