  1. I have seen a Guy larger than You on a Gixxer and No, it didn't look comfortable. Those bikes aren't made to be comfortable, they are made to be fast.

  2. I think everyone is uncomfortable on a GSXR, so you'll be in good company.

  3. Sounds like you need a cruiser or a chopper.  I cant really think of a sportbike that would be comfortable for you.  But a nice wide glide or fatboy would be perfect.

  4. 1. Go to a dealer, and sit on a bunch of bikes, this is the only way to be sure. Remember, stay on the bike, as it you were riding, at least 5 minutes, if not longer. If you're not 100% comfortable, walk away; the showroom is going to be a lot easier than battling leg cramps while lane splitting ( personal experience, nearly crashed )

    2. I have owned 2 Gixxers - an 02 and an 05. The 02 was my first bike. It took me a while to get used to it - at first, I could only ride for an hour, it was so uncomfortable. I hardened myself up somewhat, and I can do a whole day in the saddle now, but when I step off the bike I am glad to do it. I am 5'11 and 170lbs.

    3. Look at bigger sports tourers - as a new rider, you won't notice any performance difference, and they are more comfortable, not aimed at 6 20 minute track day sessions, but at you being able to ride all day on the road. Suzuki Hyabusa, Kawasaki ZX12 / ZX14, Honda CBR1300 Blackbird.

    4. If the bigger bikes are too pricey, you could try looking at older generation sportsbikes. The Kawasaki ZZR600 used ot be the ZX6R. There's an old version of the Yam R6 available too - I think the R6S. The story here is that sportsbikes have gotten more and more track focused in recent years, and thus more and more uncomfortable for road use. The ZZR600 / R6S are all the performance you, as a new rider would ever need, at a better price than the track focused bikes, and with a riding position which is so, so much more comfortable.

    5. Consider this: I have a '99 Honda CBR 600 and the 05 Gixxer now. I am faster on the Honda, because it is older, and the riding position is more upright and easier. I can ride longer, concentrate easier. I often wonder how much of a better rider I would be now, if I had bought an easier learner bike instead of the Gixxer.
