  1. I'll take the Cali horse and go Col John.

He has only raced on synthetic surfaces - and I expect him to take to the dirt nicely.

Bigt Brown will be tough to beat. On paper he is a notch above. He'll probably be overbet, has the far outside post to overcome, and only has 3 races under his belt so I'm not convinced he has the foundation to beat 19 others in the toughest race of his life at short odds.

Pyro really should have run better in Keeneland on the synthetic surface. Sure you can toss that race out - but I really expected a little better showing even if he didn't like the surface he ran on.

Noe of these are going to be longshots - and the Derby is often a wide open affair. This year is no different.

  2. I'm going with Pyro.  Even though Big Brown is undefeated, he has only raced 3 times, so I don't think he has enough under his belt to handle this race.  I also think you may want to consider the filly Eight Belles.  She is a huge filly (kind of reminds me of Ruffian a bit) and she has a good price on her.

  3. Pyro.  He can weave through horses in the final quarter going in 22 and change.

  4. big brown in a romp

  5. eight belles, she can cope with the boys!

  6. The top 3 favorites will not always deliver. In this case most horses have a good chance at the Derby. Of those three, I'd probably say Pyro, but he has to return to form in order to win.

  7. None of the above.. thanks for the easy points..Ole Lucky 13 come my way..

  8. Out of those three, I would say Pyro.

  9. Big Brown....I also like Gayego too, and my boyfriend is going for Eight Belles

  10. I'm going Colonel John.  Brown can't win breaking from the 20 post.

My longshot is Adriano.  Simply because one of these years that bloodline is going to produce something. Sigh.......

    Edit

So, yeah, I'm eating my words.  Apparently Big Brown CAN win breaking from the 20 post.  I sure as h**l hope this horse can take it all the way, we need an end to the 30 year drought
