Big contributions make headlines, small contributions win you games, says Gautam Gambhir – Cricket News Update
The triumphant Kolkata Knight Riders' skipper, Gautam Gambhir, who last Sunday led the franchise to its maiden IPL title, has said that he appreciates small contributions from his players and is a strong believer that small individual contributions play
key role in earning the side an enchanting win in the end.
During an exclusive interview with CNN-IBN the 30-year-old http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Paul-Anthony-Hibbert-c81005 said that the success mantra of his side during the recently concluded fifth edition of the Indian Premier League was that he and his management started acknowledging small
contributions, maintaining that these small contributions make the major contributions valuable.
“I’m a very strong believer in that small contributions will win you games. Major contributions can only make headlines,” said the Kolkata Knight Riders skipper on Thursday.
Kolkata Knight Riders claimed their first ever IPL trophy by beating two-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings in the final by five wickets. Manvinder Bisla, for his blatant 89-run knock off just 48 balls, got all the media limelight after KKR clinched
their maiden IPL title and a very little praise came for Tiwary and Shakib Al http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hasan-c61990, who showed nerves in the tense final moments plundering three boundaries to finish it off in KKR’s way. But Gambhir did not forget the unsung heroes of his maiden title.
“...in the final if Manoj [Tiwary] hadn’t scored those two boundaries then no one would have spoken about [Manvinder] Bisla’s unbelievable innings...Or if http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shakib-Al-Hasan-c89559 hadn’t scored that boundary then nobody would have talked about KKR,” he added further.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/G-Gambhir-c1447 played a key role in KKR’s success, not only with his shrewd leadership but also with his bat at the top of the order. With a tally of 590 runs from 17 innings, second only to Orange Cap winner, Gayle. But the left-hander refused from taking
the credit, reiterating that his players performed well and allowed him to clinch the first IPL title for the franchise.
“I will always stand by what I’ve said – the captain is only as good as his team and I’ve always believed that individuals can only contribute up to a certain level. It’s the players on the park that will win you games,” insisted the KKR opener, who played
the first three edition of the IPL with hometown franchise, Delhi Daredevils.
