Any catastrophic type events that affect the reinsurance market are going to affect the entire world, not just the place that the catastrophe happened.  9-11 comes to mind.  As well as many of the hurricanes that have hit many different countries, not too mention the typhoons in Asia.  Any major disaster that you can think of probably affected the reinsurance market.
