  1. I would first start with finding out what companies meet the ISO 14001 environmental management standard, and go from there.

All companies will pollute in some form, but how do they manage it and try to reduce it?

For example, a manufacturing plant could use only renewable energy (like setting up their own solar array).  They could reduce the amount of lawn usage (less mowing) and let the area turn more wild (better for the birds/animals in the area).  All employee waste could be recycled (which includes not only office supplies/paper, but also composting lunch waste!).  Better packaging of produced materials can reduce waste to the end user.  Reducing the amount of rejects or inconsistent material is not only good for their quality control and acceptable product percentages, but also reduces wasted material as well.  A company can also strive to make their product more recycleable, as well as purchasing more items made from recycled materials.

  3. Well, Hollywood certainly pollutes. Think of all of the stuff they blow up, cars, etc., and all of the garbage that puts into the air. Does that count?

  4. Maybe an easier question is what large companies pollute the least.  Companies like Google, Yahoo, Reuters that deal with imformation generally only use electricity and typical office materials

Some companies, notabley 3M and Dupont are known for reducing their waste streams.  Intel and other electronics  manufacturers have replace old hydrocarbon cleaners with water based cleaners.
