Big mussels/oysters that the greeks call 'p***s'?

Question

All my life our family has called these large bivalves 'p***s,' they embed themselves in grassflats and we find them and eat them. My Papou once told me what the english word was, and my Mom doesn't remember either! Help!

Yia sou ! the name is pinna, its not  a mussel, oyster, scallop, pi pi, is a razor clam that is not very common , it grows in the sea around Greece, it also grows here in Australia, but its not very well known here as well , if it is what you have been eating then it looks kind of triangular with the pointy end into the sand and the sharp end being like an axe sticking out of the sand  right?  if its something else then your Papou has given it a wrong name, anyway if  that's not it describe it and i will give you the Greek name and the English name as well , I'm waiting for your reply on this.

Here in NZ, we have what we call "green-lipped" mussels.

Their species name is Perna Canaliculus, they grow quite huge, maybe they are the same family.

I buy them already marinated and they are gorgeous.
