Big plans in the making for Fly V
Chris White, owner of Pegasus Racing, has revealed some of team Fly V Australia's plans ahead of next season.
On Thursday, it was announced that White had signed veteran sprinter Robbie McEwen, who will race for the team in 2011 before assuming a managing role and retiring from active cycling.
Fly V have strengthened their roster further by signing Garmin-Transitions duo Trent Lowe and Svein Tuft for next season.
Canadian Tuft is a veteran time-trialist who, alongside McEwen, will add valuable racing experience to the team. This year, Tuft won the Canadian time-trial nationals for the third consecutive season.
Lowe, 25, is one of Australia's most promising riders, having won the team time-trial at this year's Tour de Georgia. He also claimed the Young Rider classification in the race.
While White declined to comment on any names when speaking to Cyclingnews, he did confirm that Fly V has signed other riders. “I'm just holding back in terms of my releases of what riders have been signed,” he said. “There are more, but that will be provided over coming weeks.”
ProTour license and European move on the cards
Aside from signing new riders, White also intends to follow up on his team's application for a ProTour license.
“I think probably the major step, at least in our recent history, is around the ProTour application itself. Making the application for 2011; making it real; making an end date to the game - that's probably the tipping point if you look back on it."
Among the team’s plans is relocation to Europe, as Fly V's roster is currently based in the United States and in Australia.
