i have a decent sized system. i have an 85 toyota camry.

here is ia list of the product in it:

alpine cda-9887 headunit

mrp-f545 4 channel v12 alpine amp

pdx 1.1000 mono amplifier

apx4360 clarion 4 channel amp

2 r-type 10 inch alpine subs

r-type 6 by 9s in boxes in the back

grounds under the hood and by my amps is all 0 guage

positive power wire is oversized 4 guage run to a distribution block and sent to the 3 amps

i have upgraded my alternator to a 110 amp alternator aand is still running 100 percent and i bought a rediculously expensive battery and i am having a problem with power i'm assuming. at loud volume (25 out of 35) my pdx mono block cuts out. remains powered with the light on and what not. and occaisionally the alpine 545 cuts out. i'm assuming that the 4 guage is burnt but i dont really have time or the room to run 0 guage to test. any ideas anyone heard of this before?

  1. try a capacitor, probably a 1 farad...

  2. Caps are for SQ - LOL (no offense though, to each his own)

You did not specify whether the big3 was done. Alt + to batt +, batt - to engine block or alt case, batt - to frame should be minimum of 4 gauge. This should be done if not already and costs under $100.

Assuming all loads on the amps are safe, I think the amps are going into protect due to the heat created by insufficient current available. Contact Iraggi, Excessive Amperage, or Ohio Generator for a quote on a beefier alt. If they can make a 160A for a Honda Civic, they can prob help you too. Good luck.

  3. So you have 3 amps, and 4 gauge wire, what do you have going to each amp? 4 gauge as well. The PDX1.1000 should have 4 gauge just itself, you have 3 running off 4 gauge. You should use  2/0 main cable, and 4 gauge to the amps(or the max they will accept) from the distribution block. Also have you upgraded the "Big Three"? This should definitely be done.

  4. who told you that a cap is for sound quality?...who ever did please don't listen to that person anymore...oh the problem might be the load you have on the amp...tell me what is the lowest load your amp can handle...and whether your speakers are SVC or DVC and the ohms...of each coil

    UPDATE:

well a caps is just like a battery it stores energy then releases it in a fraction of a second(something that a battery cannot do)...the quality of the music is defined by the head unit, the amp, and the speakers...if you have a top of the line head unit, a top of the line amp, and top of the line speakers..then the quality will be amazing...oh and what about the ohms??...

  6. first off the pdx1000.1 sub. amp made by alpine uses 100 amps of current by itself and the four-channel uses another 60 amps of current by itself................And,the alpine four-channel amp uses 80 amps of current..........That is way more than 110 amps of current.........I would personally recommend a 300 amp high-current alternator and this battery on this link,as well.......Because,the three amps use up 240 amps of current altogether.........And,that is way,too much;especially for 110 amp alternator.........I am saying a 300 amp alternator,so that everything in your vehicle can run,as well and your battery will be able to recharge to.........And,I would, also recommend the Big 3,too..........

And,by the way here is the cheapest and best place to buy an alternator of that size, because it is $500 and that includes the special mounting hardware and wiring kit and all.........Everywhere that gets you a alternator that size is atleast gonna cost $850.00,so take it from me buy it from these people........Call these people tell them make, year, model and everything about your vehicle so they can get you the right alternator.......
