Big purse, rich field make Deloitte Ladies Open 2012 more attractive
The Deloitte Ladies Open is slated to start from June 1-3, at the prestigious Golfclub Broekpolder Rotterdam, Netherlands, with a solid field featuring most of the key LET (Ladies European Tour) players and a BMW 6 Series Coupe for an ace.
The tournament officials said that this year’s Deloitte Ladies Open is going to stage a tougher battle than it did in the 2011 season. They informed that the tournament overseers are also offering a BMW 6 Series Coupe for a contender who drains an ace on
the difficult 16th hole.
Moreover, the overall purse for the event is €250,000 — a feature making the event more attractive. According to the officials, the event is going to attract an overwhelming number of spectators, which will keep the players in high spirits.
Apart from plenty of features and attraction, the defending champion, Melissa Reid from England, will not be displaying her skills at Golfclub this year. However, other key players have shown commitment for their participation.
According to the published field, key LET players include Anne-Lise Caudal, Christel Boeljon, Karen Lunn, Frances Bondad, Felicity Johnson, Jade Schaeffer, Dina Luna, Florentyna Parker, Anja Monke, Nicole Gergely, Linda Wessberg, Lotta Wahlin, Rebecca Hudson
and Lee-Anne Pace.
Analysts said that the field is strong enough to keep the contenders in trouble. However , they said that past star performers may outshine their rivals, as they know the course well.
On top of the list is Boeljon from the Netherlands. Analysts said that the Dutch star is being considered the hot favourite player for the coveted title. They said that Boeljon is going to receive plenty of support from the home crowd, something most of
the other contenders lack.
The Dutch star herself seems aware of the situation, as she said, while speaking to the media, that she is going to steal the show when she faces her rivals.
Boeljon said that she has the upper hand, as the Dutch fans will give her the much-needed support and appreciation.
“It’s always nice to be able to play in a tournament in your home country. Last year was a great success and there were a lot of people watching it. It turned out great and one of the better events on the LET. Of course I will try my best!” she said.
