  1. What is a Fez?

You can just cut out all the rot and re plate, it is the correct way of doing it.

When you have finished all the plating use some waxoil in the chassis sections to kill old rust and prevent new rust.

  2. It's certainly possible to have the holes plated, but I would scrap the car - if you have several holes, ranging up to the size of a f*g packet, then the structural integrity of an already weak car will be virtually non - existant. You and your passengers could end up dead following a relatively minor collision. The only thing you could do is have the car entirely stripped down to the metalwork & rebuilt, but for an old Fiesta, you're going to be spending really silly money.

Out of the factory, the XR2i gave 110bhp in a very poorly handling chassis, technologically miles behind anything else of the period. I understand that you like the car, but I'd advise you to try something like a Peugeot 205GTi of the same age, they're light years ahead in terms of performance, handling, build quality, reliability & indeed rust proofing.

  3. The answer is simple..... Just dont buy a Ford!

That is unless you have a fetish for rust!

  4. Provided the holes aren't too big there is no reason why they can't have plates welded over them.
