  1. absolutely. wen you throw a polo ball it is imperative you throw without spinning your wrist. i normally teach kids(and have been taught) to make your wrist and fingers to follow each other down and point towards where you want it to go. it gives the ball more power and keeps it straight. im from australia so havent played american foot ball though i do own a few and can see how you are throwing. if your hand is behind the ball it will give it a more accurate shot. im not entirely sure on this basket ball throw tip though. just pretend you are throwing a big rock or something. get someone on your team to show you, it will take a bit of gettin used to.

  2. If you're throwing it like a football, you but backspin on the ball.  This is bad because, it's harder to catch as a pass, adn as a shot, it won't skip off the water.  Basically, you want to throw it straight overhand, like a fastball in baseball.  Throwing it sideways is like a curveball, which isn't a good thing in water polo.  Also, as you finish (for a shot), snap your wrist.  This puts extra velocity on the ball and makes it skip.  When you're throwing a pass, finsish by bringing your thumb and fore figners together.  Kind of like you're squeezing the ball.  This, if done right, takes almost all the spin off and makes it easier to catch.
