Dear Readers,

Out of all the decisions I have made in my life this is the hardest. This upcoming year I will be entering high school for the first time and I have to choose between my current school and a new school. I have been at my current school for almost nine years and it is with pretty much the same people. I have become really emotionally attached to them; I have even lost a best friend recently and just getting over it. I have also had a really rough year and I have gone threw depression and anxiety disorder. And looking for a change but don’t want to leave my friends. At the new school I have some friends but I am not as close with them as I am with the ones at my current school. It also has some more variety in high school electives compared to my current schools so I could really live my life the way I want to. I am not sure what to do registration for the new school is tomorrow.

  1. Pro/con lists work wonders in this situation.  What you have to think about is where you want to be.  Will you be happier with the people who know you best and at a school you've been in for years? Or will you be happier becoming better friends with those you aren't close too (which is always a good thing) at a school that is a needed change of scenery with better classes?

If this were up to me I would choose a new school.  Sometimes after losing a best friend you need to be somewhere that doesn't remind you of them; I don't know the circumstances of that loss. If those are good friends of yours then you won't be leaving them behind, they'll still be there for you to hang out with on weekends.  Going to a new school doesn't mean losing them.

    Good Luck!

  2. Hardly the biggest decision of your life.

  3. I would go to the new school. It will allow you to have a fresh start..sounds like you need one. If the friends that you are have true friends you will remain friends even if you are not there. You should spend this time of you life enjoying being young, learning as much as you can and spending time exploring every opportunity that is available to you! Go for it!
