im looking for the best beaches for big waves that would be preferable to beginner surfers and uh, "extreme" boogie boarding along the northern coast of the island. preferably inside san juan or no more than an hour or so outside of it in any direction. If anyone knows any of these it would be helpful. Thanks

  1. Rincon is the surfers beach town.

  2. Well you should go in the winter time because that is when PR gets all the swells. In the summer the water is very calm. I would say you should leave San Juan. Go to Isabella, which is about an hour from San Juan(maybe a little more), there is good surfing there. Rincon & the west coast has the best surfing, but that is farther. If you want to stay in san juan, then try Condado beach, Ocean Park or Punta las marias. Or you can go to Aviones beach in Pinones(Loiza) which is about 20 minutes from San Juan. goodluck

  3. Check out pine grove in San Juan .....Rincon does not have waves in the summer. Isabela wich is 1:30 from San Juan has the best baches for summer surfing Shore Island is the best beach for boogie boarding. Jobos is also a good choice they are great beaches for starters........
