Biggest upset you ever saw? and enjoyed!?

I know one of the biggest upsets I ever saw was Tyson vs Douglass... But being a Tyson fan I really did not enjoy it! One of my favorites was Calzaghe vs Lacy because Lacy looked like a second coming of Tyson, and NOBODY gave Calzaghe a chance. (at least not here in the u.s!)

  1. Sugar Ray Leonard w12 Marvin Hagler; Bigger upset at the time than history might remember and to this day my fav bout of all time.

  2. You're right- nothing compares to Tyson-Douglas, and Calzaghe-Lacy was also a really good win/upset for Joe because even though the fight was in the UK, he was still the underdog.

As for my most enjoyable upset, even though this wasn't really a "big" upset- I would have to go with Bernard Hopkins' domination of Antonio Tarver.  It wasn't that big of an upset because the odds were only 3-1 against B-Hop and many insiders felt he would win, but technically it was still an upset because the odds favored Tarver. The reason I enjoyed it so much is because I'm a huge Hopkins fan, and I really don't like Antonio Tarver and before this fight, he was talking about how he would knock Hopkins out in 5 rounds and that he was a "legend killer" and all this c**p (he has only beat ONE faded legend).  Come fight night, B-Hop just dominated him, and in the round that Tarver said he would knock Hopkins out (the 5th), Bernard actually knocked him down with a perfect counter right hand.  It was a great, dominant performance for him at the age of 41 and coming off back to back losses to Jermain Taylor.  I kind of wish that he would have retired off of that fight because it was the perfect fight to do so.

  3. j.l.castillo vs floyd mayweather jr....castillo was the champion fighting like the challenger, the corrupt ref was ruling no knockdown when clearly castillo landed a body shot to the rib cabe that floored mayweather..all mayweather did was run and hold, leddermans card was 115 to 11 win for castillo...george foreman and larry merchant also had castillo winning...final compubox numbers showed castillo won by a mile! how do you beat the champ by running and holding?yes there is a fact that foreign boxers get discriminated and lose there titles 2 corrupt judges....the only thing mayweather has to do to win is survive the 12 rounds!

  4. I would probably have to say Antonio Tarver knocking out Roy Jones in the 2nd round of their rematch. The victory itself wasn't too surprise, but how the victory was acheive was the huge shocker. I really dreaded that night, especially since I liked Jones and truly hated Tarver. The feeling of Jones getting KO'd by Tarver was almost the same as watching someone walk off with my woman.

  5. By far it would have to be Tyson Vs Douglas...This fight was supposed to be a walk in the park !!  Is not the fact he won, because real boxing fans know that anybody can beat anybody on any given day. But the fact that Tyson was man handled by him was stunning...I watch it all the time on ESPN classics. Lacy and Calzage was only an upset here in America because we are too blind to appreciate talent abroad.... Hes good. Lacy was inexperienced and unproven. Calzage proved that. Nothing to be surprised about...even to me that am from Tampa.

  6. I remember the 'fight'with Lacy and Calzaghe very well and I think it was a discrace!Lacy was cracked up to be something he wasn't and the 'fight'was a mismatch from round 6,should have been stopped but the Warren promo team wanted to make Calzaghe to be the second coming of Ray Robinson to the Americans whilst any real boxing fan doesn't want to see a fighter beaten and humiliated with no chance of winning, absolute disgrace it wasn't stopped. The biggest upset I saw was  when Hassim Rachman knocking out Lennox Lewis, clean out sparko, and yes I went to celebrate it because Ive never been a fan of his after seeing him fight,I found his fights and him tedious.

  7. Duran vs Barkley! Barkley although very raw he had lots of heart, and power which he demonstrated when he beat Tommy Hearns twice! so going in to the fight many thought Duran was going to get destroyed by the much bigger, more athletic, younger man.

It was an action packed fight, and Duran even knocked down the bigger challenger! I believe he won a unanimous decision. I was so surprised, and very happy!

  8. evander holyfield beating mike tyson......wasn't gonna buy it, but when i heard the result the following morning i galdly paid full whack to watch it.

iran barkley ko 3 tommy hearns...wow! what can i say? where did that punch come from?

  9. lenox lewis knocked the FuC.k out buy hassem rachman lol

  10. That's easy for me really.  I know you are a Tyson fan and I must admit that I was impressed with him too except for a few unforgettable fights against Tucker and Smith.  He had fast hands and incredible power.  Nobody really knew too much about his heart or ability to take a punch because the other guy was usaully prone on the canvas.  So when he fought 42-1 underdog Buster Douglas I felt that Tyson would knock him out in less than 8 rounds.  What nobody expected was that Douglas dedicated this fight to his late mother who had recently passed, got into suberb condition mentally and physically and ready to fight the fight of his life.  Tyson may have taken him a little lightly but after a few rounds of having Douglas go toe to toe with him without any fear whatsoever, it had to have woke him up that he came to fight!  I was working a late shift when I heard of the upset and could not believe it.  I often root for the underdog so I was pleased when Douglas beat the so called unbeatable Tyson.  Good question, thanks.

  11. Pacquiao-Barrera 1.

Pacquiao came in way low as the underdog. Barrera even flew his entire family to Las Vegas for an after-fight celebration. What transpired though was the total beating of a legendary fighter, right before his weeping clan's eyes. And the crowd of mostly avid mexican fans, roaring in dismay not so much for the lost bet, but for having to be right there to witness their hero's down fall.

    Knocked out 3 times.

    Dominated throughout the fight.

Towel flying in at 11th round.
