Biggest upsets of 2012 – Martin Klizan ousts Jo-Wilfried Tsonga – US Open 2012
Ranked 30th in the South African Airways ATP World Tour Rankings, Martin Klizan, gave a remarkable shocker to the higher ranked Frenchman, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga at the hard courts of the US Open Grand Slam Championship. The Slovakian professional jolted down
his victory, 6-4, 1-6, 6-1, 6-3 in the second round on August 30, 2012.
In a post match interview, Tsonga commented, “Today I was not in good shape. I didn't play good tennis. It seemed like I couldn't hit the ball enough hard to put my opponent out of position. I don't really know why it was like this today, but sometimes it's
happen with me.”

the lead from his rival and bagged away the initial set without facing any challenge.

he was unable to secure any lead in the fourth round was unable to launch a defence. He peacefully concluded his tour when he received a three set loss at the hands of the Croatian competitor, Marin Cilic.
The 23-year-old, Slovakian qualifier can definitely improve his world rankings if he becomes more serious and passionate about the sport. He secured a win at St. Petersburg Open at Russia. He rallied past the top seeded local, Mikhail Youzhny, in the semi-finals
in a tough three set match and in the final round he penned down his win against the Italian, Fabio Fognini in straight sets. At the Shanghai Rolex Masters, the world number 30, suffered a loss at the hands of Cilic in straight sets.
Ranked eighth in the ATP rankings, Tsonga, manifested a decent game plan at the China Open but lost at the hands of world number one, Novak Djokovic. He made it until the quarter-finals of the Shanghai Rolex Masters and BNP Paribas Masters held at the indoor
hard courts of Paris. This loss at the hands of the lower ranked, Klizan was unquestionably a revelation for his upcoming campaigns.
