Gael Bigirimana was signed by Newcastle United yesterday from Coventry City for £1 million on a five-year deal. The defensive midfielder spoke to the media today and is looking forward to a career in the black and white Toon jersey.

The midfielder had made 26 appearances for Coventry City and was one of the club’s standout performers, despite their relegation.

The player believes
that he has taken a major step up by joining Newcastle and is determined to make his move a successful one.
“You never get too many opportunities like this,” said Bigirimana. “It might come once in a lifetime and sometimes you just have to take it and go and learn. It might be hard, but life is not promised to be easy so that's why I took the chance.”
The young midfielder is also looking forward to linking up with Newcastle’s midfield enforcer and powerhouse Cheick Tiote. Bigirimana was full of praises for the Ivory Coast international and labelled him as one of the best in the business.
Speaking about the prospect of playing with Tiote in the heart of Newcastle’s midfield, Bigirimana said:
“Right now, he is one of the best holding midfielders in the world and I can't wait to be under his wing.” 
“I just hope that I will learn every day and become close to him as a friend and as a person.”
Speaking of his move to Newcastle, Bigirimana admitted that the club’s performances last season had convinced him of penning a deal with the Magpies. He said that when the Premier League club came calling, he had no option but to accept their offer of employment.
Bigirimana is looking forward to a career with the Tyneside club and hopes to make an impact as soon as possible.
