Question:

Bike Help PLEASE!!?

Hey

I have a problem. I'm buying a bike and it's a great bike but the frame looks like it was painted by a six year old. Does anyone know somewhere in Melbourne, Victoria (Australia) where I could take the bike to get the frame re-painted properly.

  1. I suggest disassembling the bike completely and taking it to an auto body shop. Most places will do it for a reasonable charge.

If the frame is aluminum or titanium make sure to let them know as it takes a different method of preparing the frame (walnut shell blasting instead of sand blasting). If it is carbon fibre make ABSOLUTELY sure that they do not use any kind of paint stripper on it and that when they sand it they do not touch the fibre.

  2. Why don't you try your hand on it? It will be great if you do the painting yourself. There are canned spray paints in the hardware section of your malls. I've been painting my bikes for years  by myself, even my motorcycles, an R90 BMW, my old Honda Gold Wing and the latest job which I did two months ago, my Suzuki Raider motorbike. Though they do not look so good but I am proud of them. Another thing is that I do not have any look alike.
