  1. u r still in the uk? if so i cant help but if you are in america then all you have to do is to get your motorcycle permit to drive , it is a multipule chioce test very easy, good for two years

  2. The licence you have is invalid for any bike higher than a 50cc scooter.

As u are 23 you can go for your class A licence which u can either take it in a week or a block course.  The license will involve; CBT on a 125cc basic manoeuvres and handling, Book a theory which involves 50 multiple chose questions and a hazard perceptions which you have to score at least 44 out of 75, practical learning on a 500cc bike or you can sit the test on a 125cc but restricted to a 33bhp for 2 years.

If you choose to do a weeks course you are expected to pass your theory before you sit your practical at the end of the week.

New laws on the 28th September 2008 requires you as a learner rider to attend a established government run training centre for your test, some test centres will not be ready in time in which some people have to travel great distances to do so, like the Highlands have to travel to Glasgow.

I don't believe in what they are doing it is the drivers in cars that require more training?

  3. an expensive ornament, you need to take a bike test,

did you not look on your licence to see what you could & could not drive / ride,

    it begers belife

  4. No you cannot ride it.

First thing to do is to send your license off and have motorcycle entitlement added ( if you have not already got it)

When you have the entitlement go and book a weeks training super course......this will include the CBT which is needed to validate your provisional licence.

Go for the unrestricted test as the restricted test means that you will have to have the Harley restricted to 33bhp for two years. Its just way easier to do the full unrestricted test.

  5. If the vehicle has two wheels, you will need a Motorcycle licence, need to be over 21, and take a (CBT) Compulsory basic training course for that size of bike.

I must admit that the engine is Massive, it's actually larger than an average car engine. The insurance may be quite high for this particular vehicle aswell.

You will need a Provissional Licence (DVLA - £45) and the five others. The licence is one card + paper part that will cover all vehicles that you are allowed to drive. [One for all]

    1. CBT

    2. Theory test within 2 years

    3. Practical test within 2 years

    4. Insurance

    5. Road tax (excise duty)

You will legally be required (In UK) as you probably know to use a british standard approved helmet, and optional leathers, boots, and trousers.

At the moment, you will not be able to drive on a car licence, but there is an extremely low chance that you could be exempt from the theory test in later life. But if you intend to do it all now, then you will need all five steps listed above.

  6. It's gonna take you a loooooooooong time to get behind that. By the time you book your CBT - assuming you even have bike entitlement on your licence - the wait for your theory is four weeks at the moment. ONLY THEN can you book your practical test which changes in October. So you may have a fight on your hands to get in for the easier one before the change. Taking the new test on a 500cc (as you will need to take DAS) will be bloody hard as you have no experience.

I know I'm being a killjoy, but I reckon you have two viable options:

Take the bike to Cash Converters and see if they will facilitate you with a buy-back scheme till you pass lol!

Get yourself a Bebo page and post photos of you sitting on it, so at least someone somewhere miles away will think you can ride it.

    All the best dude!

  7. See here;

    http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/Lea...

To be honest, I'd just sit & look at the Harley - It'll rot, break down or both if you ride it in the UK. And don't try to go round corners on it, they don't like it!

  8. well at the moment you are just going to have to sit and look at it...u need motorcycle entitlment on your licence...you then do the cbt test, theory test then finally your practical..but if you want to ride your big beast then u need to do the ''direct accses test'' so you wont be limited on what bike you can ride ,direct accsess alowys you to ride any size bike...hope this helps..

  9. The answers on here are about right.  Your only choice now is to do a direct access course.  CBT and theory then on to about a week training and then the test

If you would like to ride with Harley try this link. http://www.harley-davidson.com/wcm/conte...

This is the Harley site for the Riders Edge training and will navigate you to the right place.

They are in Builth Wells in Wales and do a training program whereby you stay for the week.  Ride and learn on Harleys and hopefully leave with a pass at the end of it all.  Not the cheapest but neither was the Roadking.  They will teach you right.  Recommended by Harley Davidson and Harley Owners Group.  Can't be bad.

Good luck with the learning and the bike.  Keep safe

Sorry about the first link but this one will get you there

  10. No you can't ride it, unless your on private ground to which the public have no access.

visit the UK Motorcycle Tour Club, and see Licences pages, this will guide you through to your full licence.
