Question:

Bike Workout please?

I really want to get into biking to try to get some leg muscle and get fit. I run track and really want to see some improvement in my long jump and endurance. Could biking help me do this? If so, what distance am I looking at for noticeable improvement? I'm also interested in Mountain biking if that makes a difference.

  1. So if your looking to make your legs stronger. Consider a High impact workout with some Low impact workout.

A great high impact is simply running. Really, the distance you want to go, is how much you feel comfortable going. If you feel sick of running and are starting to feel pain and cramps, then STOP!

Then a low impact sport could be biking, once again, go as far as you feel your ok with.

A combination of these 2 will improve multiple muscle areas and more.

You can try different combinations with these, such as

    Workup-Stretch- 5 min

    Running

    Cool down

    Biking

    Cool down

    Running

Remember to eat healthy foods before running and only exercise 1 hour after eating.

    And drink lots of water.

  2. when training, during the off season cross training is always good.  the variety can sometimes spark growth and improvement.  i picked up cycling to cross train for cross country and track in high school.  i would continue the things you do for your track, and in off season add the cycling in a few days a week.  i wouldnt go too much if track is your main goal.
