  1. buy a bmx

  2. if you are looking into starting mountain biking i think you are going to have to spend a little bit more money to get something worth while. but if you are just looking for riding around the neighborhood giant makes great bikes. its one of the biggest bike companys in the world and they are very reliable.

  3. Pretty cheap shifters;  the other components are also iffy if you plan on riding a lot of off-road.

  4. Tommy - If you're too dumb to see the question, you shouldn't be here.

"Firm fork gives reliable singletrack performance. Lacks zest on climbs."

"Good all-rounder, although the harsh ride could be cured by switching to wider tyres"

  5. find out how many miles it has, how old it is what components are on it and then compare it to similar bikes on ebay or craigslist (if you live near a large city).  the brand of the bike isn't as important as the components that came on the bike.  shimano XT, XTR is really high end.  Deore LX is very good.

if the dealer is trying to get $300 for a used bike, it should at least have deore LX, unless it's like new

  6. this bike was in this months mountain bike uk mag  for buget bike for under £300 they gave it some good marks, in fact i think it won out of the 4 they tested its a good frame but if you ask any to serious mountain biker they will be iffy but if your using it day to day around town local woods its a great bike some people spent £300 just on a few components so it really depends on how you intend to ride this bike, but either way its your choice go for what ever you want and make your own reveiw on this bike i quite like the carrera range from halfords but if your not to picky on where you get it from have a look on there web site, good luck keep me posted what you decide thanks.
