Bike availability?

Around what time of year do the new 2009 models become available to buy, and with a shop like halfords, do you think it will be diccicult to get hold of a 08 bike within 2 weeks of 2009 models being released

First, I wouldn't buy a bike at Halfords. I understand that they have some pretty bad service there, but that isn't your question.

Most 2009 bikes come out in 2 or 3 sections. The "early release" bikes are already in stores, then the "inventory release" is to cover 2008 inventory that has sold out, then the "official release" is during August at the Interbike trade show.

I can bet that you can still get some 2007 models at Halfords so I really don't think that you'll have much problem getting 2008 stuff within the 2009 release dates.
