  1. you must have a leak somewhere check compression get a new plug (check out the NGK website they will have ur bike with the plug specs) and clean out the carb if all else fails take it to a bike dealer with a shop on a cold rainy day they will fix it or at least tell you whats wrong.

you could also bump start if it has a clutch get your buddie to push you wile your on the bike and when you have good speed let the clutch out quickly in gear.

  2. I would suggest you go to Canadian Tire buy a book,

they have on the model and make of your bike.

Or go to  your nearest library they have a huge selection on motorcycle knowledge and Car's as well.

Personally I would check the hose and make sure the gas is getting to the motor. Plus I would buy a new spark plug. It's worth a shot.

Also older motorcycles work so much different then new one's you know that. as well.

Sometimes phoning a auto wreckers they will give you some insight if you ask to speak to one of the staff that works on the motors  engines.

Not all the people are available to speak to but it's worth a short shot as well.

    I hope I helped a little.

    Have a nice day.

  3. If it starts and runs fine in dry weather but acts up only in wet or damp weather, then I'll bet it's the coil wires leaking.  With lots of use or age, they can develop microscopic pin holes what allow electricity to escape when moisture is present to act as a conductor.  They can look fine, but they aren't.  Also look for cracked or broken insulation on th eplug wire where it goes into the coil.  While you're at it, check the plastic casing of the ignition coil for any cracks.
