  1. go buy a bike with generator

  2. You don't want to try to make one; you can buy them quite inexpensively.  But I would never consider using one: I want to spend as little of my energy as possible riding a bike, and that means that bike lights run on batteries.

  3. It is not clear whether you want a generator to power a light on the bike or to power other devices much as one would use a hand crank generator to power a computer.

I agree with an earlier comment that you would use a LED light powered by a battery if that is an option. If you use a rechargeable battery it can have a solar cell to keep it charged up.

Or use a hand crank  dynamo and forget about the bike.

If you really plan to power much else with a bike, consider instead using solar power with a car battery for storage. It can produce more power than your pedals can.

  4. take rear tyre and tube off.

mount bike onto a frame so it is sturdy ,with rear wheel off ground.

get 12 volt car alternator .mount it so that it's pulley is inline with wheel rim.

fit drive belt over rim and alternator ,tension.

    get 12volt car battery , connect .- three wires -2 positive 1negative

    pedal like mad.

connect invertor to battery , watch tv.

nxt week; 'how to make a redundant front wheel into a windmill'

(please note 12volt car batts give off very explosive gases when charging)
